Indirect Discrimination

A less obvious form of discrimination than direct discrimination. This may take the form of applying certain conditions or requirements that are more easily satisfied by one group than another. One example would be to specify a fixed minimum height requirement for entry into a police force. This is a requirement that would be more easily met by male than female applicants. Another example would be a requirement for an unnecessarily high standard of spoken or written English which would favour people with a particular educational background.
