Cloning

In the HR context, cloning, or 'elective homogeneity' is the tendency for selectors to pick people like themselves, thereby reducing the breadth of skills and personalities in an organization. Simply matching the set of characteristics possessed by previous successful post holders, it is a safe, conservative way to filling jobs. As a low risk, but backward-looking approach, it is unlikely to meet the future needs of the organization.
