Roberts (1997: 10) describes biodata as a "set of questions framed around 'coincidences' in the lives of good performers." People who are good at a particular job are likely to be more similar to each other than to individuals selected at random from the general population. Such similarities extend beyond work-related factors into hobbies, sports and social activities.
